Tools Circa 1870 – Great Great Grandpa Henry
Family history says that our Great Great Grandpa Henry (born 10/1842, died 9/1915) was a wagon maker. He lived in Alma Center, WI, was a soldier and survivor of the Civil War (served 39 months). He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Alma Lodge No. 294. Our great grandpa was a mail carrier and probably didn't use the tools passed down from his Dad to a great extent. But our Grandpa was a sheet metal worker and some of the tools in the collection (for sure the snips) were added by him. It's not obvious, but I'm guessing there are a few items that may have been added by our Dad (born 1934, died 2017) who was an all-around home handyman who took a lot of pride in teaching his three daughters how to be self-sufficient and some might say darn handy in their own right.
But being realistic, handy or not, we don't have uses for these tools and we also don't have the awesome basement, workbench and space that Dad had. But we hope there's a lover of old tools out there who has the space and would like to accept our bequest of honorary great great grand kid to CARPENTER GGpa Henry! I have more pics or can send details. You'd have to make a really convincing offer to buy less than all.
